Website Update Time

Posted September 25th, 2011 by Nicholas Gomez with No Comments

There has been a great deal of changes over the past several weeks. Some of these changes have been for the better and some for need. I want to start by introducing the new website. Here at NicholasGomez.com you will see a fresher, cleaner and easy to navigate presence. The idea behind this is to allow my portfolio of design, work and education to grow and have a solid presence on the web. More importantly, I wanted to create a solid professional branding message. There are many areas that have contribute to this idea. One in particular is the growing education I have been receiving while attending Ferris State University.

As a student of both Graphic Design and now Television Digital Media Production. I am wanting to take not only my talents and share them, but demonstrate a great brand and image to my potential employer. Although digital die cut art is technically a hobby, it also allows me to supplement our family income. Through this website I am able to not only take the textbooks and apply them but also create a small amount of income from it.This becomes a win-win.

You may questions such as:

Are you going to stop creating and offering Free Files?

No. I will always create files and place them in my File Library which I share online. The amount of them will be somewhat small but I will be sure to offer them in a fairly constant basis.

Are you going to offer tutorials? When?

These are in the works. When? I am hoping very soon. I will start to send them out in my newsletter. So I hope you have signed up for it.

Will you do custom work for me? Or create a custom file?

I would love to do a custom file for you. Be warned that I will ask for payment based on the complexity of the file and what you wish to do with it.

What is the Vector Art  tab for on the Home page?

I will be offering vector art that can be purchased and used in your projects. I have an extensive library of files that I have created to use with digital die cutters and people that like to make vinyl banners, signs and wall quotes.

What is the Sketchup tab on the Homepage?

A few months ago I started using Google Sketchup to create my 3d paper models. This is how the Pitcher Pump file was created. Then I started to explore other options with Google Sketchup. In that discovery I found a need to create plans for both woodworking and building objects. There is a growing interest in these plans and a growing community that uses Google Sketchup. More importantly, I am kind or a geek that way……

Why do I have to place my email address in the form at the File Library Site?

Good question!!! More importantly, I am glad you ask. In the past, I said here is the direct download and people have been free to download. Then, I find it on the internet being claimed as their own art. (really not cool). Then, I had the form where if you place information in it the form would automatically give you the link. From this came the rash of “Michelle Obama” downloads in the form. (Funny!! But I highly doubt she came to my site). Now to keep the up and up, I decided that I want to know who exactly downloads my files on the file library. It is a personal interest more than anything. But in retrospect, it is to look for those that are wanting to claim the work as their own. So, please don’t do this and please don’t SPAM the form. I don’t share this information and I don’t sign you up for a newsletter if you don’t want one.

Do you have a specific Question to ask that I missed? Feel free to use the comment section below or you can use my Contact page as well.
