Google Sketchup: Paper Craft Design

Posted November 28th, 2010 by Nicholas Gomez with No Comments

In my recent discoveries of design, drawing and modeling I have discovered a wonderful plugin that works great for Paper Crafting. This plugin of course goes great with the free and robust software “Google Sketchup”. I present you with “Flattery“. As you can see from my images below it can do amazing things like unfolding and saving out as a .svg file format.

I have to admit there is a learning curve. Although the instructions on “Flattery” website are easy to follow they seem to have left out that everything needs to be grouped before outputting to a .svg file. It took some trial and error to discover this little detail.

Once you start unfolding you won’t stop designing. I will be playing with this process for the next couple of designs. If you decide to take a dive into the plugin or have a better solution in unfolding 3d models feel free to leave a comment below or contact me. I would love to hear from you and your experience.
